Seville Cathedral, built in the 15th century, is one of the largest and most impressive churches in the world.

Seville Cathedral is the largest cathedral in the world, it is the third-largest church in the world as well as the largest Gothic church. It was registered in 1987 by UNESCO on the World Heritage List.

The interior has the longest nave of any cathedral in Spain. The central nave rises to a height of 42 meters. In the main body of the cathedral, the most noticeable features are the great boxlike choir loft, which fills the central portion of the nave, and the vast Gothic retablo of carved scenes from the life of Christ. This altarpiece was the lifetime work of a single craftsman, Pierre Dancart. What might also be interesting to know is that in the southern transept, near the Puerta de San Cristóbal, lies the tomb of Christopher Columbus by Arturo Mélida, which was built in 1892 in the Cathedral of Havana, and was transferred here after the declaration of independence of Cuba in 1898.
